The capital city of Japan, Tokyo (often misspelled Toyko) has a population of over 12 million. It is the seat of the government and the house of the Imperial family. It is one of the most beautiful futuristic cities with modern skyscrapers and neon flashlights everywhere. This amusing city also the highest gross domestic product generating city in the world.

Tokyo / Toyko is one of the 47 prefectures of Japan and consists of 23 wards in itself. Each ward, though small in area has its own different uniqueness. A must visit is Odaiba which is a complete peek into the future. It is constructed on the Tokyo / Toyko bay, atop man made islands. The Yurikamome monorail, which is completely automatic, will take you on a fun ride along the bay. For the fashionable ones there’s Shibuya and Harajuko. These are the places where the younger lot hangs out, you’ll find many night clubs and party spots here. Asakusa is the old town which is also home to the famous Sensoji Temple. Akihabara houses the popular electronic market and in Yebisu Garden Place, there is a Beer Museum which should not be missed.

Tokyo is an entertainment hub whether we’re talking about restaurants, pubs, karaoke bars or theatre. Though eating out can be a problem because you won’t really recognize anything much on the menu, a must experience is the conveyor belt restaurant which serves Sushi on a conveyor belt around the restaurant and you can choose whatever you want to eat. You can also take a ride to the local fish market and choose the kind of sea food that interests you.

Geographically also, Tokyo / Toyko is quite blessed as it consists of plateaus, hills and mountains spread around the city. The temperature is hot and humid in the summer and winter is also reasonably cold and terrible rains will greet you if you decide to visit in June. The best time to visit Tokyo / Toyko is definitely either spring or autumn, which are both quite pleasant.
