Jeruselum / Jerusalem

One of the oldest cities in the world, Jerusalem (often misspelled Jeruselum) is also the capital of Israel. It is widely known as a holy city as it is of much significance to not just one but three religions- Jewish, Christianity and Islam. It is located in the Judean Mountains near the Mediterranean and the Dead Sea.

It is one of the most extraordinary cities in the world containing historical sites important to many religions. There are approximately 75 churches, 150 mosques and about 1200 synagogues inside the city. King Solomon’s Temple, Second Temple, the Cenacle (the supposed site of Jesus’ Last Supper) and Temple Mount all co-exist here.

It is especially know for the Israel Museum which also houses the Shrine of the Book which contains the Dead Sea Scrolls. The Rockefeller Museum and the Ticho House are other popular destinations. Besides its cultural presence, artistic activities have also come up in the recent past. Khan Theatre and the Jerusalem Theatre are quite famous for the concerts they host every year.
